Guardianship

Guardianship is the most common legal procedure utilized to protect persons who are unable to care for themselves because of a mental disability. Guardianship Law in Massachusetts has many unique problems.

Guardians may require specific judicial authority to permit extraordinary medical procedures including: treatment with antipsychotic medication, removal of life support equipment and other medical procedures.

Guardians may require specific judicial authority to maintain the ward in a mental health facility

We are available to litigate these issues, or to act as guardian for the disabled individual. Often, family members prefer that an objective qualified individual act as guardian for their loved one in order to maintain the purity of the familial relationship.
