Weber & Baum-Attorneys at Law

Child custody cases include continuing issues of custody and visitation in divorce. There also may be issues of custody, support and visitation in paternity matters. The Department of Social Services may become involved in these difficult and trying matters.

Disputed child custody is a difficult and emotional area. Courts normally base decisions on the child's best interest, but there are various perceptions of how to define that term and what criteria apply. The interests of each of the child's parents, the wishes of the child, and the interaction and interrelationship of the child with parent or parents and siblings, all must be considered.

Weber and Baum have been involved in numerous child custody and adoption cases. They have represented clients in a number of controversial and difficult custody cases. Attorney Baum has been appointed by Judges as a guardian ad litem in more than 50 child custody and adoption cases. Attorney Weber is a member of the Professional Advisory Committee of the Department of Social Services and he was the General Counsel to Massachusetts Office for Children.
